New Year, New You Tip 12: Eat Good Fats

What is a good fat and why should you eat them? Fat is fat right? Wrong... Good fats can actually help you burn fat and lose weight, while bad fats put on those pounds. 

Good fats are fats high in saturated fats and low in unsaturated fats. Some good fats include: 

  • coconut oil
  • avocados
  • eggs
  • peanut butter
  • olive oil
  • sunflower seed oil
  • almonds

Good fats are made up of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), which speed up your metabolism because they are easily digested and converted into energy unlike long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs), bad fats, that need to pass by the gallbladder to be broken down into simpler chains for it to be utilized for energy.

We recommend at least 3 tablespoons of coconut oil in your diet per day.
